Obituary of Peggy L. Over
Peggy Loyl Over, 96, died peacefully on April 29, 2023 in Carmel, Indiana after a brief illness, ten days short of her ninety-seventh birthday. She was born on May 9, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama to Obie B. Harris and Lillian Baker Harris, from whom she inherited a sunny disposition, which served her well in a life full of concern for others. She grew up happily in Barberton, Ohio with her brother Jerry Graham Harris, who predeceased her. After high school, she completed her RN training in the Cadet Nurse Corps and married Donald P. Over the day after Christmas in 1947. Their honeymoon trip was by bus. As Don’s job with RCA moved four times in ten years, she kept the growing family feeling at home wherever they were. As time allowed, she was active in the community and school, returned to nursing part-time for a period, and took care of Don during his long illness. She enjoyed several years in their home on Sweetwater Lake, weeks with Don in Destin,FL for many winters, annual family apple picking, and golf + lunch outings with friends in Carmel into her eighties. She and Don were very involved with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and then Pleasant View Lutheran during their many years of membership and she attended Cornerstone Lutheran in recent years. Throughout her long life she was devoted to her children and their families: Paul Over, Susan (Ralph) Burns, Sandra (Thomas) Brinkman, and Steven (Nanci) Over. She treasured each of her grandchildren: Conor (Marisol), Kyle (Andrea), Joseph, Leah, Scott (Brittany), Natalie (Stephen), and Madeline. She delighted in meeting her four great-grandchildren: Alexander “AJ” Over, Oliver Over, Gabriella Burns, and Abigail Burns. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at Leppert Mortuaries, 740 East 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46240 on Monday, May 8th beginning at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
