Patrick Michael Donovan

Patrick Michael Donovan, 72, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Pat was born on February 17, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Catherine (O'Brien) Donovan. Pat graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, earning a B.S. in Police Science and Administration. Pat had a distinguished 29-year career as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. Among Pat’s career achievements are serving as a lead investigator and part of a team that was responsible for solving the Speedway bombing case in the '70's, providing security to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic games, teaching other law enforcement professionals in bombing and explosive investigative techniques and methods, and leading a successful joint task force to battle gang infiltrations from the west coast to Indianapolis in 1990. Pat was a man of faith and family. He met his wife, Molly, in high school. Pat and Molly moved to Indianapolis in 1972. During their 50 years of marriage, Pat and Molly raised three sons and spoiled three grandchildren. Nothing was more important to Pat than spending time with his family and friends. Pat could often be found on a tennis court, traveling with his wife and family, or doing his favorite activity, looking after his grandkids. Pat is survived by his wife Molly Donovan, his sons; Brian, Kevin, Dan (Cara), his siblings; Kathleen, Timothy, Dennis, and Jimmy. Pat also leaves behind 3 grandchildren whom he adored: Luke, Jake, and Kate. A visitation for Patrick will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. A second visitation will occur Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat's memory can be made to the Devon Foundation, Inc. 6284 Rucker Rd.
