Patricia S Mirksy

Pat received her doctorate in Education in 1988. She spent her professional career as a special education teacher and served as the director of special education and school psychologist in the Speedway School System. Pat was committed to teaching and counseling to support the successes of each individual student and assure that no child was left behind. Following her retirement, Pat began composing poetry and fulfilling her lifelong dream to write children's books. Pat's belief in and commitment to student success reached well beyond the Speedway Schools.

Pat and her late husband, Art, were strong supporters of the Department of Earth Sciences (formerly the Department of Geology) at the IUPUI School of Science. Pat and Art established two funds that generously support students: The Dr. Arthur Mirsky Geology Scholarship Fund and the Drs. Arthur and Patricia Mirsky Student Enhancement Fund. These funds have been a critical and significant resource for many students through the years, reflecting Pat and Art's belief in the lasting power of education to shape students' lives.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband Arthur "Art" and stepdaughter Alexis.

A visitation for Patricia will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
