Nick graduated high school from Kentucky Military Institute in Louisville, KY, where he was awarded the honor of being named a Kentucky Colonel. He subsequently received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville.
Nick was an army veteran who served 7 years. He was proud to serve his years at Arlington Cemetery working with the Caisson horses during the Vietnam War. After his service, Nick and his family moved to Indianapolis where he was self-employed for 50 years. He was a racing enthusiast who also loved all things trains. He truly enjoyed the company of a small but very close group of friends. He would consider his greatest accomplishment to be his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carl Wetzel. He is survived by his wife Sandra, son Drew, daughter Dallas Wright (John), granddaughters Emily, Abigail, and Erin Wright, niece Carla Stowe, and nephew Mark Wetzel.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4pm to 7pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
