

Mrs. Sammye D. Cheatham Babb Sanders, daughter of the late Jerdie Davie Cheatham and Oscar Cheatham, born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. At an early age, she professed a belief in Christ at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Sammye graduated from Attucks High School in Hopkinsville, KY. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Glenn Babb. This union was blessed with three children, Gwendolyn Babb, Edward Maurice Babb and Rodney Babb. She was later joined in marriage to Dr. Rev. Mozel Sanders, who also preceded her in death.
Sammye moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she made her home until her death. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. CV Jeeter. She later made her church home with Abundant Faith Family under the pastorate of Dr. Rev. David L. Johnson.
Sammye retired from Eli Lilly in December of 1977 where she was a manufacturing technician for 26 years. She was a loving, caring person who loved her church, church family, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Washington State. She enjoyed watching â€?"Young and the Restlessâ€. Sammye also enjoyed watching game shows, such as â€?"Wheel of Fortune†and â€?"The Price is Rightâ€. She was an usher at her church, member of the Pastors Aid ___ Work Club. Her favorite song was â€?"Never Could Have Made Itâ€.
Mrs. Sammye Cheatham Babb Sanders departed this life on March 28, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memories of two daughters and four sons Gwendolyn Babb-Simpson (IN), Shante Sanders (OH), Maurice Babb (IN), Rodney Babb (IN), Rev. Roosevelt Sanders (IN) and Rev. Richard Sanders (CA). Two daughter-in-laws, Vicki Babb (IN) and Stephanie Sanders (IN) and ten grandchildren. Three brothers, Rev. Ray Cheatham (TN), Arthur Cheatham (KY), and Anthony Cheatham (WA). Two brothers preceded her in death, Bill and Dock Cheatham. Four sisters, Emma Jean Smith (KY), Elwanda Mahone (IN), Hazel Allen (IN), and Linda Christopher (WA). Three sister-in-laws, Bettye Cheatham (TN), Juanita Cheatham (WA), and Teresa Cheatham (KY). One son-in-law, Giordano Simpson (WA). A host of nieces and nephews, friends and one dear friend Evella Robinson.
