Mr. Thomas A. Getz

Retired Insurance Executive Thomas A. Getz (age 95), died April 23, 2012. He was born May 3, 1916 in Ft. Wayne, IN. He graduated from North Side High School and spent many summers enjoying Clear Lake, IN. He graduated from Indiana University in 1938 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Sphinx Club, Cheerleader and a member of the varsity wrestling team.

He was married to Jessie L. Bach on October 1, 1942 and was married for 54 years. He served as the commanding officer on Sub Chaser 734 in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II from July 1942-Dec. 1945.

Tom had a 41 year career with Indiana Lumbermen's Insurance Co. and retired in 1981 as Vice President of Claims. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Jennifer Rayl and Susan Thornburg (Rick) five grandchildren, Jason, Tiffany, Jared Rayl, Ashley and Colin (Tara) Thornburg and his brother, Carl John Getz, Jr .(Patty). He was preceded in death by mother and father, Irene and Carl John Getz, Sr., wife, Jessie Getz, and sister, Geraldine Ward.
