Words cannot express how deeply sadden I was to hear of Anders passing. We have worked closely together for many years and he was a great person. I will always remember his smile and how he always went above and beyond to help someone. Everyone loved him and he will surely be missed. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the family. May God wrap his arms around you with love and peace.

Dear Mrs. Bang and family,

I had the privilege of working with Anders for the last several months.  You see, he was our computer guru for the Breast Risk Assessment Center at the hospital.  This is a program that is a large population screening tool that will exist in our breast centers.  Anders was the computer brains behind this project.  It is running because of his computer expertise.  I must tell you how much we appreciated Anders.  He was the kindest man I have ever met.  Always helpful,kind and with the biggest smile on his face. Please understand his job was not easy with me...you see he never even got frustrated with me when I could not turn on the computer. (Sometimes he would laugh so hard at us!!!!!) He would just chuckle in his "Anders way" and keep on working to help us.  Our team will miss him.  When you work with someone day in and day out you gab a lot about everything.  We knew he was a biker, loved Bloomington,the Bahamas but most of all we knew how much he loved his family. I feel like I know all of you by the things that he talked about. He so enjoyed his trip to the family wedding in Europe not so long ago. He was always concerned about others and interested in what was going on in everyones life.  He was a neat guy.  I am so sorry for your loss.....I will never forget Anders Bang.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

I had the pleasure to know and work with Anders for nearly ten years. You could go your whole life time and never meet a person that nice again. I am very sad to know that I will not see him again. Anders was a very rare person.  I will miss his kindness, humor, and generosity.  He could always be counted on if you needed help, or if you just needed to shot the breeze.  He was my friend, I will always miss him.

I knew Anders because of all his help with the PCC move in October of 2007 and various other IT projects having to do with the PCC.  He was a very kind man and always willing to help with any questions that I had regarding IT at the PCC.  He will be truely missed!

    It has taken me a while to be able to address how deeply losing Anders has affected me.  Anyone working with computer or IS issues knows how much frustration it can produce. Anders was instrumental in assisting my department with a complex networking project that some said could never happen.  Anders had such a wonderful attitude, his smile could light up the room and he never said "no".  Anders made this project happen and never once complained or grumbled.  
My heart is filled with sadness over this loss but my memories of Anders will always swell my heart with the joy that Anders displayed. I will always have his memory tucked into my heart and will remember his devotion to all of our St. Vincent ministry. God Bless and comfort you.

Anders was a great person with a high level of integrity and compassion for others. It has been a great privilege to work side by side with him during his years at St. Vincent. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.  

I am so sad to hear of Andy's passing. I knew Andy from grade school at Delaware Trail to North Central and always considered us friends. I have referred to Andy through the years, and especially at the birth of my son, Andy. We named him Andrew - but strongly considered Anders, in no small part due to my old friend Andy Bang. Always kind and gentle. Rest in peace my friend.

I worked with Anders over the past few years as a sales rep to the hospital.  He was very good at his job, and an even better person.  He was always concerned about how I was doing and went out of his way to help everytime we got together.  He was a special person and will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. 

To know Anders made each of us a little better. Our thoughts and prayers are will you. 

   I have had the pleasure of working with Anders for the better part of a decade and considered him one of my best friends in the world. With his ready smile, affable manner, and genuine concern for the welfare of others, he was well respected by his peers and customers alike. He seemed to possess wisdom beyond his years, particularly concerning investments, one of his favorite subjects. When I think about his self-admitted frugality, it makes me chuckle. He elevated it to an art form. 
  Anders' adventuresome and intrepid spirit served him in many ways. He traveled all over the world, which taught him to respect others' opinions and ways of living even when they differed from his own. That skill as a peacemaker earned high regard in my book. He also had a passion for bicycling and he looked forward to long rides with his biking buddies. Perhaps he never felt more unencumbered than when he was cycling. Another joy was new culinary experiences. We used to meet at various ethnic restaurants around town, which was fun to watch because he always enjoyed trying new foods. I shall miss those times yet cherish the memories. 
   For our next trip, my wife and I will be traveling to other countries on vacation and we wish to honor Anders by dedicating the trip to him. After all, his worldly travels inspired us to expand our horizons. He would have loved Australia. 
   Perhaps the measure of a man is whether he left the world better off than he found it. There is no doubt that Anders did, with gusto but all too brief. I am so very grateful for the good times with him and consider myself a better person as his friend. He was simply one of the finest examples of a human being I have ever met. My wife and I extend our deepest sympathies to his family. 

St Vincent Hospital is very blessed to have had Anders Bang.  He exemplified the Core Values and you can tell by all the tributes, kindness was poured out to everyone he worked with.  You are only seeing a sprinkling of the thousands of people he helped over the years.  Best of all, everyone was as important to him as the next. Working with computers, put him in contact with people who were savvy and many that weren't.  He didn't care, and neither did you after working with him.  The best part was, you always felt better when you found out he was the one handling the problem.  Many make an impact in the life they are given.  Some are able to make an even greater impact in a few short years they are here.  All our love to his family!  Thanks for giving us Anders!

Anders was a leader-by-example and a mentor.  He truly had a servant's heart.  He was trustworthy and accountable in all situations.  His approachability and compassion made him one of the most frequently requested resources in our department and a friend to everyone who knew him.  Each person who has written a tribute to Anders represents perhaps dozens more who have been touched by him in some way.

It is so hard to wrap one's mind around the familiar face and voice of someone we know so well and adore; especially, when this now  seems only a memory.  I can't help but glimpse out my office door and imagine you, Anders, popping in to say "Hi" on your way to help someone.  It is so natural to envision greeting you as we pass in our daily paths.  My own disbelief makes it hard to accept death in any form when I know the soul and character of a man to be so kind, gentle, and significant.  It's just too soon...

Life is so brief.  We are so good at pretending we will live forever and yet we are so dumbfounded when it is over... just like that.

Anders, despite the huge amount of sadness we feel, I have no doubt we will meet again in another place.  While we are gathering our strength to accept the present, it is so important for you to know that YOU are loved and remembered for the genuine spirit you are and the kind person you have always been.

I say this with tears and smiles while searching for any words to describe my own grief.

To all family & friends: Please, celebrate this Life in rememberance. It is a gift of Grace from God in every sense and circumstance.

Anders was a very special person who always had a smile on his face.  He assisted our department in so many ways.  Installation of Impress and ensuring we were ready during our major construction.  He helped us in so many ways.  He is missed by so many at the hospital.  To his family, we are so sorry for your lost or this truely special person in your and our life.


I have had the pleasure of working with Anders on several occasions and considered him a friend. He was always very helpful and friendly to everyone. I will miss him.

Working with Anders over the past 7 years I came to know him as a quiet and shy young man that always had a smile on his face and a kind word to share. He so enjoyed talking about his bike trips and travels and always asked me about mine to Michgan to see my family. I teased him a lot, but he always took it in stride. He was a well respected and loved individual in the St. Vincent family and he will be terribly missed. The hole that is left will be very difficult to fill as we all struggle with this untimely loss. Having just heard the news last night and delivering it to some of Andy's friends from Jr. High and High School, I can only say that the news has caused quite a bit of saddness amongst us.    

The memories of Andy are deep and always happy.

Happy Birthday, Anders. We will all miss you very much. Rest in peace.

Andy was my childhood friend.  I have many happy memories of our times together in classes, on the track team, and at parties with our friends.  Andy, the host, in his basement bedroom turned party hall that we called the Bango Gardens - a sound track of Sugar Hill Gang, the Gap Band, Prince "Controversy".  I will always smile about those times.  And also the time I ran into him in Williams Creek on summer cross country skis - just skis on roller skate wheels with poles that poked at the concrete.  How odd and crazy he looked, yet he could really move on those things.  Then some years went by and the last time I saw Andy was after he returned from touring Asia. Regretfully, we didn't have too much time to catch up, but I left feeling extraordinary respect for him and his adventurous and optimistic outlook.  Andy was a true original.  I am so sorry now because I would have liked to have seen him again.  I am happy to see that so many were touched by his life and I am glad to count myself as one who was too even though it was some time ago.
