Obituary of Michael E. Weaver
Michael E. Weaver, age 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 10, 2022 as the result of a hit and run in South Carolina. Mike was born April 10, 1948 to the late Harry Earl Weaver and Joan (Toles) Weaver in Indianapolis. Mike graduated from Arlington High School where he was a two time state wrestling champion and an accomplished trumpet player, having played with Doc Severinsen. He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam but quickly moved on from the conflicts in our world. Mike retired from Raphael Health Center where he served as CFO. He also served his community and church as he was dedicated to community service. Mike was committed to Tab Recreation and volunteered as a coach of his sons teams, working concessions, refereeing, umpiring, and serving in leadership positions such as commissioner within the basketball, football, soccer, and softball programs. He really treasured being a soccer referee, moving through the ranks of FIFA certification to reach the college and national level. He was the recipient of the Lewis A. Dawson Award, Tab's highest volunteer distinction. He was a selfless person who surely has many more quiet kindnesses and remarkable achievements that he never thought to mention including his wonderful sense of humor, never at others expense. In retirement he greeted all his neighbors and their dogs from his porch, becoming the "Mayor" of Delaware St. Most remarkably, Mike loved fearlessly his family, including his wife of 48 years, sons, daughters-in-law, and his new granddaughter and grandson who were the lights of his life. Mike is survived by his wife, Bonnie Frye; sons, Asher Weaver (Jessica) and Josh Weaver (Lindsay); grandchildren, Ella Weaver and Jack Weaver; siblings, David Weaver (Rhonda); and the many friends and youth he impacted with Tab and refereeing. Visitation for Mike will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E. 34th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Mike will be returned to the earth at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208 following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike's memory may be made to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church (click give gift, select "Recreation" in Fund drop down, and add in the memo line, "Mike Weaver"), www.tabpres.org/giving.
