03/21/1928 – 11/28/2023
Maxine, known as Macki to her friends, passed away surrounded by family on November 28th.
She was born March 21, 1928 in the little town of Rushville, IN to parents Frances Evelyn (Flodder) George and Rex Adelbert George. She loved growing up in Rushville and led a life full of summers at Lake Douglas in Michigan, horseback riding, baton twirling, dancing (she loved to jitterbug!), playing cards, and spending time with her large extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Macki studied at Indiana University, graduating as a registered nurse which led her to a corporate nursing position with Allison Engines in Indianapolis. There she met the love of her life, George Vincent Bianchini. In August of 1951 they were married and settled down to raise their five children, Susan Butler (Bob), Julie Haan (Jim), Laurie Corazza, Terri Bianchini, and Gary Bianchini (Kathy). She is also survived by her eight beloved grandchildren who delighted and fascinated her with their accomplishments and travels, and by five great grandchildren.
Macki was an amazing woman, taking her family to wonderful vacations in exotic locations and surprising her children with a series of letters she had written over the years and secreted away for them to find as her health and memory grew dim.
In Macki’s own words, “I was meant to be a mother rather than a nurse who could save the world! Oh how things change! The years of raising all of you were the most wonderful days of my life!”
The family would like to especially thank Brookdale Carmel for their compassion, care, and support during Macki’s time in residence there. The dignity afforded her in the final weeks were indeed a blessing.
