Sorry to hear of Mary’s passing.  I just happen to see the memorial on the AG Bell newsletter.   I met Mary in passing years ago when my daughter was younger than 3.  Mary and I had an excellent conversation on what resources were available and the best way for me to be an advocate for my daughter who had been diagnosed with a severe to profound hearing loss.  Mary made me aware of avenues for me to explore and Mary set me on the path to finding success for my daughter.  While we never used Mary as a therapist, I always appreciated her willingness to point me in the right direction and to be a resource to my questions.  .  My daughter is now 34, married and has a masters in engineering.  It takes a village!    

I'll always remember Mary as such a cute and pretty girl from Holy 
Spirit grade school. Always admired her from afar, but WOW her singing. She is singing Glory  to God in Heaven now. When it is our
time, let us all meet Jesus and sing in the angels' chorus.

She helped Kobby to start talking. She was a good at her job , patient and worked with so much passion. 

I am typing this and crying because my son who was very delayed in speech started talking this year only after 2 months of Mary’s help. I have no idea who else can help my son.

The obituary was so beautifully written. As was written she gave her heart to those of us that needed her without question.

Mary was a longtime colleague and friend who lived a truly purposeful life. Mary had unwavering support and dedication to everyone for whom she held dear! We shared many conversations about our professional and personal lives. Her positive impact was widespread, and she will be greatly missed by many! My condolences and prayers to her family. We didn’t have enough time with you. 
3 years ago I went searching for what I thought was a unicorn… a therapist who would not see cognitive delay but instead would help her learn to teach her BRAIN to use her aided ears to better LISTEN and process language… and by the grace of God, I was led to you. 
An auditory verbal therapist unlike any other. 
You were absolutely a unicorn - there is NO ONE like you. 
You met us, spent time w/Paige at the house to observe and see how you could help. You went to her school to observe her and sat in on her speech session in Greenwood. All out of the goodness of your heart. 
You knew it was complex esp getting her later in her life at age 8 (3 years after her hearing loss dx which was at age 5…) but you did not hesitate to jump in. You and I had countless conversations about her hearing and listening and you taught me so much. You listened when I needed to vent, this road is hard and you acknowledged that each time. 
Paige tested you for quite some time (this work is hard!), and you always, ALWAYS held the bar high - she would always rise to it. And the two of you really came to build a strong relationship— she especially loved your games particularly the Sushi cat game on the computer. 
You were even so kind as to help brother with his /s/ sound at the end of each session. I have countless examples of how BIG your heart was. 
Your experience/knowledge/background in the deaf/hard of hearing world… your true CARE, LOVE and BELIEF in your clients… your advocacy, drive to keep taking classes, reading studies, articles, willingness to do whatever it took to adapt works so that your learner could be successful… it’s all second to none. 
You are irreplaceable to so many, including us. 
In 2 yrs with you, Paige made tremendous progress. You were going to continue to play a huge role in Paige’s development and overall success for the long haul.  THANK YOU for loving our girl like your own! Rest in peace good and faithful servant. ♥️🙏🏽

I have never met or worked with anyone who was more dedicated to teaching hearing impaired children how to listen and learn to speak. She was amazingly patient and loving. She became a part of that child's family. She taught the whole family, not just her patient. She made dreams come true. It was an honor to work alongside her in the sound booth, testing so many children, making sure they could hear as much as possible so they could "listen and learn", and succeed in life.

I'm deeply sorry to hear this. Mary has been a part of my life since I was 2, teaching me to talk and speak, and she advised my parents about cochlear implants. I owe who I am now to her. Sending lots of love and prayers to Mark, Patrick, and Chris.

Over 10 years, our paths crossed when our family was blessed to have Mary as an SLP for my daughter, who has a disability. Right from the start, she was invested and believed in my daughter and her capabilities. She was an advocate for her by attending IEP meetings and literally taught her how to read. 

We moved to a new state, and it was so clear that Mary was one of kind. She graciously remained connected to my daughter which was of great benefit to her. She cannot be replaced. We are so grateful that she touched our lives.

We are deeply saddened by this loss and we will be praying for the entire family during this difficult time. 

Lord, we ask that you provide help to those who are hurting. Guide them and place your arms around them to comfort them and give them strength. Amen 


I have known Mary for three and a half years, ever since I moved here alone with my son, who is deaf and hard of hearing. As a mother in a new country with no clear path for support, I was fortunate to be referred to Mary. From the moment we met, she dedicated herself to helping my son learn to listen and speak, giving her time and expertise freely.

Mary was truly a blessing to my family—a Godsend. She was like a mother to us and a remarkable mentor. Her love and kindness touched our lives deeply.

We will miss her greatly. Thank you for everything, Mary. We love you.

We are profoundly saddened by the loss of Mary. She was an exceptional woman. Our paths merged 27 years ago when our daughter began Auditory Verbal Therapy with Mary. We are forever grateful for her expertise, dedication , advocacy and unwavering support. She changed the trajectory of our daughter’s life and gave her the gift of oral language . She was a tutor, mentor and friend. Her smile , laughter and enthusiasm will be missed and the shared memories will be with us always.

Mary shared life with thousands through kindness, patience, respect and positivity! She was our babysitter (& cousins), WAY back when, and she was always gracious, fun, loving. She never flinched, and we were a handful! My parents adored her, as did many others. As we aged, we were fortunate to become friends. Mary uplifted others through her actions and words, a bit of God in our everyday lives! Mary chose to face challenges, professionally and personally, instead of turning away...improving the lives of many. She is a role model for us all. We, the Ladywood-St. Agnes Class of 1974, are so grateful to have shared our 50th reunion celebration with Mary!  She shared many smiles and remembrances of our time together in high school. Mary was a dear person and one of those precious souls I always looked for at many professional meetings. She was deeply committed to children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families, and indeed to her own family of whom she was profoundly proud.

Sending my deepest condolences to your entire family, Mark. Mary and I shared stories about Cardinal games, Fontbonne, and our careers in listening and spoken language while at meetings and conferences. I am thankful to have learned so much from her. But most of all, I am grateful to have heard the stories about her family. May you all be surrounded by that which brings comfort as you face this deep loss. 

My dear Mary, we had some wonderful times throughout our career in Auditory-Verbal.  We wrote a certification exam together, wrote a Mentor's Guide together, laughed and worried together about both our lives and our profession.
