1933 – 2015
Mary Catherine Kadel Henn, 82, of Indianapolis died on December 1. Born April 15, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the second of three children born to Paul Joseph Kadel and Mary Corrine Byrum Kadel.
Mary spent the early years of her life in Terre Haute. The family moved to Indianapolis when she was nine. Mary graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1951. She loved school and was proud of being in the National Honor Society. She and Tony Henn fell in love while writing to each when Tony was in the Air Force in Japan. They married in 1955. Mary worked at Farm Bureau Insurance, Butler University, and Target, but mostly she was a housewife and mother. She loved being a mother with all her might. She was afraid of water but made sure her children learned to swim. School was their job and they WOULD do their best.
Mary is survived by her husband of sixty years, Anthony Leo “Tony” Henn, her daughter Juli Van Wyk (Rich) of Indianapolis, sons David Henn (Bev) of Indianapolis, Dan Henn (Jane) of Dallas, and Andy Henn (Becky) of Westfield; her grandsons Phillip and Eric Henn of Indianapolis, and Brian Henn of Westfield; granddaughters Katherine, Kelsey, and Kim Van Wyk of Indianapolis, and Emily Henn of Westfield; and her great grandson, Charles Henn.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Joseph Kadel and Mary Corrine Byrum Kadel, brother Paul J. Kadel, and sister, Patricia “Faye” Kadel White.
The viewing will be held at Feeney- Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 3rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 1827 Kessler Blvd on Friday December 4th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery at 9700 Allisonville Rd.
