Mary Louise Cooper was born on May 17, 1954 in Dermott, Arkansas, to Pastor Alonzo and First Lady Bernice Aron. She was the eldest of eight children, five sisters, and two brothers. Mary moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1956 where she was a lifelong resident.
Mary attended Indianapolis Public Schools receiving her primary and secondary education from Indianapolis Public Schools #29 and #56, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1973.
Mary united in marriage to the late Funder Cooper in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1978. During this union, they raised three beautiful children. Mary and Funder were married for 24 years.
Mary established her career with Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) in September 1975 and dedicated 37 years of public service to the United States Government. She prospered from an entry level GS-2 clerk typist position to her final position as a GS-12 Financial Systems Analyst, until she retired on November 3, 2012.
Mary was baptized and saved at an early age and fully accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the Late Supt. James Z.T. Harris, former Pastor of the Prince of Peace Church of God in Christ in 1990. She dedicated her life to God's work and never turned back. She was a dedicated believer, prayer warrior, and woman of God. She held various positions in the church including; church Mother on the Mother's board, church secretary, President of the Christian Woman Counsel (CWC) and she participated in other auxiliaries. Mother Cooper was recognized as a prophetess, worshipping and declaring the works of the Lord wherever she went. Her dedication and devote commitment to God's work was recognized by all those blessed to know her.
In addition to work within the church, Mother Cooper was an active member in the Sister's Network for four years serving as the secretary and treasurer. Mother Cooper's work with the Sister's Network brought awareness to breast cancer prevention and support to women all over the state affected by the disease. She participated in various fundraisers; including the annual Sister's Network Luncheon, Gift for Life Block Walks, Young Survivor's Correlation, the Pink Ribbon Connection, and Casting for Recovery.
Mother Cooper enjoyed traveling, and had the opportunity to visit approximately 90% of the United States and several countries around the world. She loved spending time with her family, watching tv with her granddaughter Brielle, and attending church conventions, services, and special events.
On November 12, 2015, Mother Cooper was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. At that time doctors told her that the disease was incurable, inoperable, and she was given 6-18 weeks to live. Mother Cooper often quoted the scripture Psalm 118:17 "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the lord." Mother Cooper did just that making true believers of her doctors, nurses, and all those blessed enough to witness the true miracle she was.
