Martha Ann (Gorman) Sam a woman of virtue and grace and a humble servant of God was born January 9, 1947 at Lillie Kemp Hospital in Independence, Louisiana to the late Beulah (Johnson) Gorman and Clarence Gorman. As a child, her parents nurtured and raised her in Hammond, Louisiana.
Martha was united in holy matrimony to Marin Sam Sr. on March 23rd, 1971 in Indianapolis, Indiana where they reared two children together with patience, discipline and a love for the Lord. Martha was dedicated to her family at heart and was kind and soft-spoken and always had time to help those in need. She is dearly missed by her loved ones that included a loving spouse, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a host of others.
Martha was a faithful employee of St. Vincent's hospital where she worked in various capacities before retiring after 45 years of exemplary service. She was a well-regarded employee and received various awards and accolades for excellent client care. Martha graduated from Greenville Park High School in 1964 Hammond, Louisiana. She was immersed in the Christian community and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age in Hammond, Louisiana. She was an active member of Grace Apostolic Church in Indianapolis where she served on the senior usher board, attended Sunday school and was a part of the Hospitality ministry for many years and made sure that her grandchildren attended on a regular basis.
On July 8, 2019, God desired to have his angel rest in his arms; he carried her from her earthly home in Indianapolis, Indiana and returned her to her heavenly home.
Martha leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband Martin Sam Sr., and their children Martin Sam Jr. (Kimtoiya) and Corey Sam (Summer); 5 grand children Treni Jr., India, Armeta, Martian III and Kori and 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews 1 brother in law Mose Sam (Dianah), 2 sister in laws Mary Walls and Joyce Oliver as well as many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Beulah and Clarence Gorman; siblings Clarence Gorman Jr, Jeanette Toomer, Mary Alexander, James Johnson and her son Treni Gorman Sr.
