Obituary of Mae L. Wade
Mae L. Wade, age 92, passed away in her home on February 8, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mae was born in Sunflower County, Mississippi to Louis and Rosetta Washington on November 9, 1929. She attended a county school through the fifth grade. Then moved to Isola, Miss. through the eighth grade. Mae attended Coleman High in Greenville, Miss. She married Charlie Wade on September 25,1949 in Sunflower County, Mississippi. They were married until his death in 1994. In 1966, she moved to Indianapolis, IN with her husband and six (6) children. She worked at Mechanics laundry for several years and then GC Murphy’s cafeteria in the Meadows for a few more years. Mae served in the choir, on the kitchen committee, the Trustee Board and Building Fund Committee as a member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Mae is preceded in death by her parents, sister (Darlister Batts), brother (Clinton Washington) and her husband (Charlie Wade). Mae is survived by her children, Sylvia Miller, Aniker Wade, Raymond Wade (Janice), Johnny Wade (Valerie), Clinton Wade, Marvin Wade. Grandchildren, Carl Irvin (Sholanda), Raymond Wade Jr, Brandon Wade-Blanchard, Christiana Wade, Ciara Wade. Adopted grandchildren Stacey Travan, Tracey Travan-Turman (Mark). Great grandchildren Jeremiah Travan, Braelyn Travan, Zahra Irvin, Talia Turman, Isaiah Turman. Best friend and Christian sister Alfa Jordan. Visitation will be February 18, 2022, at 11:00 am followed by Funeral services at 12:00 pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery with Pastor Leon Porter, Jr. of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family of Mae L. Wade wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Travelers Rest family and other friends for their call, cards, visits, and a special thanks to her caregiver Teresa Terhune for her tireless care of our mother over the past few years.
