Lydia Yvonne Dejarnette-Andrews

Lydia Yvonne (DeJarnette) Andrews was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 10, 1949 to William and Fannie (Jett) DeJarnette. She departed this life on December 5, 2023.
Lydia graduated Shortridge High School in 1968. She was a candy striper, which gave her the interest in the field of Medicine. She attended classes at Indiana University. She worked in community hospital pathology and histotechnology department for 45 years. She retired in 2017.
Lydia was a faithful member of Eastern Stars of Union Chapter #1 (P.H.A.), as Past Worthy Matron, P.M.A.M. member rehab court # “3”, Past Illustrious Persian Court #24”. Her passions were traveling to see family and seeing the world. She loved gardening, cooking, and sewing.
In 1989 Lydia married her life long partner, James H. Andrews.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, William and Fannie (Jett) DeJarnette, her sister Freda Mae Jones, just recently on October 3, 2023.
Lydia is survived by her loving husband, James H. Andrews, sister Rena, son Sean, stepsons, Corey Andrews, Marcus (Jasmine) Andrews, and James Andrews Jr., 1 granddaughter, 2
great granddaughters, 3 nieces, 3 nephews, a multitude of cousins, friends, and Mimi her dog.
She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who loved her and she will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Lydia will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
