Kathy attended Indianapolis Public Schools and Crispus Attucks High School. She also attended House of James Beauty College.
Kathy professed her Hope, Love and Faith in Jesus The Christ at an early age. She attended Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, and Eastern Star Church. She was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years, serving on the Usher Board #2 until her untimely death.
Kathy loved her Pastor, Reverend Dr. Ronald Covington Sr., and Her Church Family. She attended and supported her Church faithfully.
Kathy Jo, as she was fondly called, worked at Wishard Hospital (now known as Eskenazi) Center Township Trustee Office of Marion County, Indiana, and Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, from where she retired after working over 30 years. As a Supervisor for FSSA, Kathy was a mentor, always offering words of encouragement to Her Staff and Clients.
While working at Center Township she met the love of her life, Charles Williams Jr., in 1981. Kathy LOVED her some Charles. They married on October 21, 1995.
Kathy served as President of Indiana Black Expo, Indianapolis Chapter. IBE Pageant Committee, We Can Feed The Hungry, Marion County Voter's Registration, Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church's Breakfast with Santa {providing Toys for the Children) and Greater Morning Star's Hats, Tea & Me Dinner Program, and various other Civic Programs.
Kathy was a fearless protector of her family, especially her husband Charles, her daughters, Ria, Kendra, Brother, Robbie, and grandson Wookie. She Loved and Cherished ALL Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Kathy was a true friend to all; she would try to help and be there for everyone who was in need.
Kathy loved her friends, bowling, music, especially Luther Vandross. On Saturdays when Ria & Kendra heard her playing Luther, they knew it was time to clean the house. On Summer evenings, when living at the Sunrise Apartments, Kathy would listen to her neighbor, William Starks, sing. She would say "That Man can really Croon". Kathy had a passion for travel, she loved to cook and loved Pork Chops (Everything She Cooked Had Soul). Kathy was the Queen of Jheri Curls in the 1980’s and traveling from House to House doing them for everyone in the neighborhood.
She enjoyed being outdoors, sitting on Her Patio, just relaxing. She loved and bought only Chevrolet vehicles.
Kathy truly loved to enjoy herself and have a good time. She found pleasure in all she did.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandchild, Brianna Williams.
Left to cherish her memory, Her loving and devoted husband, Charles Williams, daughters Ria Anderson and Kendra Kelley, stepdaughter, Kelly Banks, stepsons Eric and Kevin Williams, Brother, Robert (Sherri) Jackson, Sister-In-Law Rebecca Taylor, Grandchildren Darius Miller, Aniya Kelley, Anisha Kelley, Daja Young, JaRee Byrd, Aiyanni (Travis) Waters, Brianna Williams, Deasia Robinson, McKavin Banks, Eric Williams Jr., Eris Williams, Erin Williams, Kevin Williams Jr., Kaliyah Williams and Seven Great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all.
