Joyce attended Indianapolis Public School #4 and #5 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. She attended Grace Apostolic Church where she was baptized at an early age. Joyce united in holy matrimony to William Haywood Turientine, Jr., and to this union three children were born: Anthony D., Kathy A., and Carman M. Turientine.
Joyce worked as a Librarian at the Indianapolis Public Library. She held several government positions at the local, state, and federal levels. Such positions were with Mayor Hudnut’s office, the Internal Revenue Service, and Workforce One Development. Joyce was also heavily involved with the Republican Party as a City Council Representative. She excelled and was astute in each position held. Joyce was a caretaker and enjoyed being an advisor and counselor to her friends and family. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, eating, relaxing at home, and spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and cherished her.
Joyce Marie Turientine departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021, at the age of 76 years. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Jonas and Kathryn Mae Young Norman Carden; Father, William Floyd Wilson, Sr. “Rudy”; Mother, Katie Marie Wilson; Brother, Michael D. Wilson; Sisters Debbie A. Wilson and Sheila D. Wilson. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her loving children Anthony D. Turientine, Kathy A. Turientine, and Carman M. Turientine; grandchildren Tiana N. Jessup, Brandon L. Graham, Tiffany M. Skates (Marcus Skates), Bryant L. Graham, Anthony D. Turientine, Jr. (Kierra), Tauwanna R. Jessup, Whitney M.
