Josephine Louise Sheehan

Josephine Louise Sheehan, age 92, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 surrounded by her whole loving family. She was raised by her parents Joe & Rose Ivancic in Haughville. She was a graduate of St. Vincent nursing program in 1951. She practiced her nursing skills in many capacities.

Josephine’s most treasured blessings were her faith, family, and friends. She was a foundational pillar for the growth of many ministries at St. Pius Church. Her involvement and leadership included: RCIA, Pre-Cana marriage encounter, Spread, Eucharistic Ministry, Music Ministry, Women’s Club, Fatima Retreat, Communion Services, and Hospice Services and many more. Josephine’s grace and strong faith helped so many in her community. Her kind and gentle nature made even the most lonely feel welcome and loved.

Josephine was most proud of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a quiet and calm demeanor lead by her love for others. Josephine’s loving family will continue to carry on her legacy starting with her children: David Sheehan, Kathy (Joe) Downs, Patty (Tom) O’Connor, John (Ann) Sheehan and Maureen (Brian) Hughes; and 12 grand children, and 27 great grand children who all loved her dearly. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sheehan and her son, Dan Sheehan.

A visitation or Josephine will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.

Josephine will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Pius Church.
