Joe retired from Ford Motor Company with over 30 years of service. He had a love and passion for music therefore, in 1978 he opened Joe Lee's Records and Tapes located on Clifton Street. Not only did he sell music, the Record Shop became a staple in the community where people would stop by to hear his uplifting and encouraging words. He loved the Lord and was an avid reader of the Bible. He would write scriptures and affirmations on cards and place them everywhere. Joe was a mentor for many. He was comical and made people laugh even on their worst days. He was loved by so many and his never-ending generosity was witnessed quite often. Joe had a love for nice cars, and he enjoyed sports especially basketball, football, and boxing.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Bradley, father, Joseph C. Lee Sr.; brother, Oscar Bryant; daughter, Tuanita J. Lee.
He is survived by his former spouse and friend, Eva Talley-Sanders (Charles); sons Joseph C. Lee Jr. (Sandra), and Oscar B. Lee; daughters Viva Lee-Shaw, Cherise Lee, Deonna Lee-Hoyle (James); ten grandchildren, Christina Greene, Kelecia Lee, Justin Morris (Caroline), Courtney Morris, Antonio Ward (Samantha), Jamey Ward, Cameron Shaw, Lindsay Greene, Christopher Shaw, and Jaden Hoyle; five great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
