IN THE CARE OF
Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary
Joseph J. (Joe) LaFata passed away peacefully in the Indianapolis Veteran’s Hospital on his 86th birthday, Wednesday March 30th 2011. He was surrounded by his four loving sisters; Dorothy (Jim) Ramsey, SeRita Lux, Marjorie (Leo) Rhoda & Catherine McGinley. Joe was the first child of Italian immigrant Joe LaFata and his wife Mary (Green) LaFata. He served in the U.S.Navy aboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier in the Pacific during World War II. Joe was a kind, generous, loving and fun person who was very much loved by his surviving sisters, his two surviving brothers-in-law, his 21 surviving nieces and nephews, all of their spouses and their children. They and his many friends will miss his great sense of humor and wonderful stories. Feeney and Hornak Mortuary will be handling the arrangements. There will be no formal showing, but the family will greet friends preceding a Memorial Mass at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church at 4938 Fletcher Ave. on Thursday, April 7th at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s name may be made to St. Bernadette’s.
