John Steven Sinclair, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was born on January 20, 1926 in Indianapolis as the son of late John and Mary Sinclair. He attended Little Flower Grade School and Cathedral High School. He was a motor machinist mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater. "Jack" and his father established an auto repair shop, Sinclair & Son, on the eastside of Indianapolis. He owned and operated the business throughout his adult life until retirement in the 1980's.
Mr. Sinclair was a lifelong member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. John was an avid bowler who routinely rolled a 600 series. He also enjoyed fishing and watching Colts football games.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth. He later married Imogene "Jean" Schultz, who passed away in 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Martha Monroe and Rosemary Gunderman. He is survived by his four children, Charles (Beverly) Sinclair, Christine Sinclair, Deborah (Scott) Morelock and Daniel (Beth) Sinclair; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11am at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E. 13th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass from 10am until 11am. Burial with military honors will follow Mass at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
