Very sorry for your loss and the great loss to our community. John was a wonderful man that will never be forgotten. He was much more than a great coach to my son and his teammates, he was more like a mentor and friend. He was a great example to his players and their parents, including me. He had a positive impact on both my son and myself. Most of all, he was a great father to Darian and a tremendous example for Darian. I'm confident Darian will become a wonderful man because of John's example. We will greatly miss John and are grateful for knowing him.

It has been 30 years or so since I have seen John or any of the Padgett family. We grew up together in Northern Park, our fences met in the back yard. I can remember that John was always kind and thoughtful. We all played many kickball and whiffle ball games together, good memories. 

In the last year or so I found members of the Padgett family on Facebook. It was nice to see all of them and catch up with friends from my childhood. 

I followed John's progress on Facebook as he battled cancer. I prayed for him as many of you did. I honestly thought that things were getting better.  That just goes to show us how strong of a person John was.

He did a lot of good things in his life and helped a lot of people.  He will certainly be missed by many. 

My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I READ THE ARTICLE IN THE INDPLS STAR  ABOUT JOHN AND HIS BLESSED LIFE. I WISH I COULD HAVE  HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET THIS WONDERFUL MAN. GOD PUTS PEOPLE LIKE JOHN ON THIS EARTH TO DO GOOD DEEDS AND THEN HE TAKES THEN HOME. DEB AND DARIEN I LOVE YOU.

John had a personality people loved to be around.  He always had a great story to tell that made people laugh and have a good time.  He will be missed, but remembered.

Dear Debra, Darian and family,

Myself, Maggie, Liz, John E, J'Lynn and friends at Group One are so so sorry to hear about John's passing.  

It's been awhile, but his love for you Debra and Darion was inspiration for us all.  His smile and laughter lit up a room. His helpful nature, creativity and heartful love of people are just a few of the wonderful parts of John.  John was one of those people who's memories stick with you forever.

I have NO doubt he has made an everlasting impact that will transcend time with the young souls he touched as a football coach.  He loved the sport... he loved coaching those kids, but most of all, he loved his son Darian, as a coach and a father!!  Darian, you father 'bragged' about you on a daily basis.  

John, the world is a better place, lives have been forever changed because of you.  May your family find peace in their faith as you have been called Home.  

May your memories be eternal.

Your friends at Group One

Although it has been over a decade since we worked together at TourDesign, I still had fond memories of John.  Always helpful, always cheerful and always creative.  I think of him every Halloween when we bring out our life-size plywood characters of Disney's Haunted Mansion that John painted for my wife and I.  Perhaps now the Vikings have an angel up there.

Dear Judy and Family,

May the wonderful memories you have of John be of great comfort.  He was friendly to everyone at  OLG school. 
You all now have another angel to watch over you. I know this is a cliche' but it is true. My mom Betty has kept me out of harms way many times.  With elder Padgett and younger Padgett, you have a mighty team of protectors.   May your Faith be of great comfort in this trying time, and remember, You will see both Padgett men again in Heaven.

Sorry to learn of John's passing.  I enjoyed our meetings on Indy race weekends. He always had a good story or joke to tell. He really enjoyed being a youth football coach and always talked with pride about his players. Deb, may the good Lord bless you and your family.
