John Thomas McDermott

John Thomas McDermott, 87, of Indianapolis, departed this life Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Fishers, Indiana. He was born September 24, 1924 in Indianapolis to William Thomas and Anna Laura (Flynn) McDermott. John was a 1942 graduate of Cathedral High School. He had also attended Purdue University and St. Joseph College. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for Allison Transmission for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was also a member of Moose Lodge. John is survived by his children, Mark (Pamela) McDermott, Mike (Kathy) McDermott and Kathy McDermott; grandchildren, Ellen (Adam) Ward, Chad, Jordan and Drew McDermott; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Sydney Ward, Ethan Roberts and Ayden Carmichael and his ex-wife, Velma McDermott. John was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Bob and Charles McDermott. Visitation for John will be Saturday, January 21st from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a memorial service at noon.
