John Thomas "Tom" Heckel, Jr.

John Thomas "Tom" Heckel, Jr. of Indianapolis passed away May 16, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Indianapolis, IN, the son of the late John Thomas Heckel, Sr. and Evelyn Heckel. He was a self-employed contractor. Tom was a life long Christian Scientist and a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, MA and The First Church, Naples, FL. Tom graduated from Principia College and went on to get a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. Tom is survived by his children: David (Nancy) Heckel, Mary (David) Thompson, Debbie (Bob) Crabtree and Marjorie Murphy, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Elsie Baxter Heckel, and his second wife, Elizabeth Bohl Heckel. Family will be having a private family memorial service.
