Born July 29, 1927, to John E. and Hazel Gallagher, Jo Ann spent much of her life in Indianapolis. She attended St. Therese of the Little Flower, St. Mary, and Indiana University. On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life Edward J. Milligan with whom she had six children. She served as both a caretaker to many loved ones and an Administrative Assistant at Hooks Drug Store, P. R. Mallory & Co, and more. She was a long-time member of a local Bridge Club and an active parishioner of both St. Therese of the Little Flower and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Jo Ann was known for her prudence and wit.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Patrick, Michael, and Daniel (Anna) Milligan, Theresa (Jonathan) Madden, and Marie Martin; her siblings Barbara (Ray) Riley, Jeanne (Ward) Hodge Degler, and Mary Jo Gallagher; her grandchildren Alexander (Jessica), Lauren, and Megan Martin, James and Celeste Milligan, Christopher Madden, and Grace and Bruce Coleman; and finally, her great-grandson Aiden Martin.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by husband Edward Milligan, daughter Marcia Kosinski (nee Milligan), siblings Carolyn and John R. Gallagher and Elizabeth and John Milligan, parents John E. and Hazel Holdaway Gallagher, and grandson Andrew Madden.
A visitation for Jo Ann will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A prayer service will occur Monday, April 4, 2022 at 9:30 AM, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E 13th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46201.
