Jeffrey Lynn Trotter was born March 28, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to Lillian Ruth (Mitchell) Trotter and Joseph S. Trotter, Jr. Jeffrey Lynn was the second born of four children. He received both elementary and secondary education from Indianapolis Public Schools #41, #26, and the legendary Crispus Attucks High School, of which he bragged continuously.
Jeffrey confessed Christ at Eastside Christian Center at the age of 9. He was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. For the remainder of his life, he rejoiced in hearing good sermons and great gospel music of praise.
In 1967, Jeffrey decided to join the U.S. Army. He went to basic training at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, spent time on a base in Arizona before being deployed to Germany, and then later volunteered for Vietnam. The army took him up on his offer and he landed at Cam Rahn Bay in 1969, hooking up with the 101st Airborne Division. Jeffrey earned a Bronze Star for his time in Vietnam. After leaving the army, he worked for General Motors as a machinist for 15 years.
Jeffrey enjoyed being a father, grandfather. Jeffrey took great pride and joy in coaching Little League baseball at Saint Alban's for several years. He loved being around children and sharing his insight.
In retirement, Jeffrey loved watching sports with friends and family. Jeffrey valued his family and spoke of it constantly. He enjoyed good food, music, and reminiscing about the "good ole days." These were his favorite things to do.
At the age of 68, Jeffrey transitioned from this life on Monday, May 28, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a host of cherished relatives and friends.
Jeffrey is survived by his daughter Tonya Ward (Derek), stepdaughter Nicole Holder (Charles), stepson (Nolan), brothers Joseph Trotter (Penny), Gerald Trotter (Toni), sister Janice Glenn (Steven), and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
