Janet received her education in the Indianapolis Public School System. She attended schools #32, #87, James Whitcomb Riley #43, and graduated from Shortridge High School.
Janet was selected as a “page” at the Indiana State Capitol, and was one of very few first place winners in a city wide classical music identity contest. Janet accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age, while she a member of Phillips Temple CME Church.
Janet was a loving Wife, Daughter, Mother, Mother in law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend to all that knew and loved her. Janet worked at Shoppers Fair, The Finance Center, and retired from Raytheon Intelligence and Space.
Janet loved cooking and spending fun times with family and friends, and was always ready to joke. She would tell you her hobby was watching her favorite TV shows; Andy Griffith and Gun Smoke.
Janet was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 2 days on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 at 6:43 AM.
Janet was preceded in death by her father John Pusey Potter Sr., her mother Helen Louise Potter, and her daughter Tracy Laverne Owens.
Janet leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her loving husband of 54 years Wrent Oliver Dade, her sons Mark (Kena), Jason, and Brian, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brothers (Baba) John Pusey Potter Jr. (Helen), “Tony” Tyrone Anthony Potter (Angela). Janet also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Janet will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
Janet will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208.
