84, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Indianapolis, peacefully departed this life Saturday, October 15, 2011, surrounded by family. Jim was born July 17, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY to James W., Sr. and Sophie (Sulinski) McLeod. He served his country as a Seabee in the US Navy during the Korean War and wore his Seabee hat most days. He graduated from Drexel University in 1961, and worked as a mechanical engineer for RCA for 22 years, retiring in 1974. Jim was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his son, James McLeod, III. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of 61 years, Reggie and daughters, Karen McLeod Ellis (Mack) and Lisa Martin (Rick Stagner), plus three grandchildren, Jessica Martin, Patrick and Michael Ellis.
Friends who knew Jim frequently joked about his 9 lives which turned into about 20 lives. Shortly before he passed, he joked with his daughter Karen that he had come to the end of his many lives. He continued with his "Jim” isms until he passed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, October 19, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Indianapolis, with calling beginning at 10:00 am in the Church narthex. Entombment will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Alzheimer’s Association or to donor's charity of choice.
