84, passed away peacefully October 29th in the company of his family at St. Vincent Hospice. Jim was a private man of few words with a laugh that invited you to join him.
Born September 1st, 1929 to Terrence I. Lynch and Mary (Callahan) Lynch, he grew up in Mishawaka, IN attending Mishawaka high school. Jim joined the Navy during the Korean War, serving in Hawthorne, NV. In 1955, Jim began a 30 year career with AT&T. It was there that he met and married his wife of 52 years, Sharon (Humphrey) Lynch. They moved to Indianapolis with his job to raise their children, sending them to Christ the King and Bishop Chatard.
Jim was an avid reader, a dapper dresser, enjoyed following the stock market, fishing with his brothers-in-law and golfing with friends. He planted a yearly garden and competed well with the squirrels for its harvest. Jim and Sharon were members of Christ the King Catholic Church and the American Legion REK Post. Jim was exceptionally proud of his grandsons.
We will all miss his laugh, his silly sense of humor (Three Stooges and Looneytoons) and the times he stepped beyond his quiet nature to “ham it up” for an audience of friends or family.
He is survived by his wife and dedicated caregiver, Sharon; son Terry (Laura) Lynch; grandsons, Patrick, Daniel and Trevor Lynch; daughter Mary (Steve) Sommer and their sons; Michael, Boonie and Brian Sommer; sister, Nancy (Tom) Blum; loving brother and sister in laws, nephews, nieces and friends.
Calling will take place Saturday November 2nd from 11am-1pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Vincent Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorial tribute at www.feeneyhornakkeystone.com
