Jack L. Simmons, 68 of Indianapolis went home to Heaven on September 16th. He was born in Colorado Springs, CO the son of Robert K. and Birdie M. Huppe Simmons. Jack graduated from the University of Missouri with a Law degree. He became the VP of Corporate Tax for R. R. Donnelly & Sons in Chicago and the VP of Corporate Tax for Whirlpool Corp in Benton Harbor, MI. Jack also served as the president of the Tax Executives Institute Inc., in Chicago. Upon retirement in 2006 Jack and his wife Kyle moved to Indianapolis to be near his family.
A person of deep faith his entire life, Jack served many churches as Bible study teacher, mentor and leader. He was a member of Castleton United Methodist Church and a care provider in the Stephen’s Ministry. He was also a past member of Geneva United Methodist Church in Geneva, IL. A three time mentor at Starfish Initiative, Jack’s focus was to love God with all his heart and love his neighbor as himself. He claimed God as all-sufficient for all his needs and invited others through kindness to trust God as he did. Jack would also encourage you to root for the Missouri Tigers football and basketball teams. As for baseball, the only choice is Jack’s beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Kyle Jean Simmons, a daughter Shannon (Ryan) Feeney and one son Scott (Hanna) Simmons. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Emma, Carson and Addison Feeney and Sophia Simmons and two brothers; Robert A. and Ronald N. Simmons.
Memorial Services will be held 5pm Friday September 25th at Castleton United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 3:30 until time of service at the church.
