Greg passed away peacefully on Friday January 14, 2022, at his home in Indianapolis IN surrounded by his family and friends. He fought valiantly with grace over the last 8 years against this challenging journey with cancer.
Greg was, in the words of his closest friends, passionate, genuine, caring, generous, selfless, humble, relentless, diligent, loyal, and hardworking every single day.
The world lost a warrior, mentor, friend, father, uncle, son, brother, and husband. Greg taught us to love hard, be passionate, live abundantly and practice the power of listening. He stood up for the underdog and was a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, Black Lives Matter, ecology and recycling.
Greg graduated from Indiana University in 1989 with a Bachelors in Telecommunications and from Ball State University in 1990 with a Masters in Information and Communication Sciences. Upon graduation, he joined Eli Lilly & Company spending 31 years in various leadership roles. Most recently as the Director of IT for Medical Affairs and Sales & Marketing. Other roles included Six Sigma Black Belt, Environmental Sustainability Advisor and IT Director for Clinical Development.
He was passionate about the environment, serving as the President and Board Member of Indiana Recycling Coalition and involved in Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Earth Day. Greg also served as a board member for People For Urban Progress (PUP), and other community activities.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Bay “baby dall”, his sons; Willis Spratt (Kelsey), Michael Shotts (Tera), Caleb Huffman, Jordan Huffman, daughter Jessica Shotts, grandsons; Ethan Dale Shotts, Mason Huffman, his parents; Vivian Anderson (Wayne), John Spratt (Marsha), step siblings; Doug Smithson (Lauri), Roy Smithson (Larry), Lisa Smithson, three loving aunts, one uncle, many cousins and his four-legged princess Opal Mae. Preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Scott Spratt and grandparents.
