

Gerald Kinneer, 94, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on July 21 surrounded by his family. Gerald was born in Veedersburg, Indiana and was the son of Perry and Jacie (Stonecipher) Kinneer. He was married to Juanita M. Schafer for 71 years, who survives. A WWII veteran, his duty was spent in the European theater under Eisenhower’s Command. He graduated from the Purdue University School of Forestry, worked for the Texas Forest Service, then returned to Indiana and began his 35 year career with National Homes Corporation in Lafayette as a cost estimator, retiring in 1988 as the Vice President of Purchasing. After retirement, Gerald and Juanita moved to Santa Claus, Indiana where he enjoyed his life-long love of fishing. They later moved to Greenwood to be closer to their children. Gerald was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Lafayette. Gerald and Juanita are the loving parents of three children, Kathy (Steve) Hershberger of Greenwood, Indiana, Gary (Linda) Kinneer of Howell, Michigan, and Ken Kinneer of Greenwood. Also surviving are his brother Billy (Karen) Kinneer, Denver, Colorado, and grandchildren Matt (Ashley) Kinneer, Alex (Priya) Kinneer, Elizabeth (Tim) Laba, Sarah Kinneer, Amanda (Sean) Thomas, step-grandchildren Angela (Emilio) Zapata and Philip Hershberger, seven great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, A memorial service will be held at a later date.
