85, of Indianapolis, departed this life Thursday, November 28, 2013. He was born March 16, 1928 in Paoli, IN to the late George Benjamin and Nancy Jane (Livingston) Thacker. George enjoyed owning and operating Moonlite Bowl in Brightwood for 17 years. He was a loving and dedicated family man. He absolutely loved bowling and making new friends at the alley. He also enjoyed baseball, and would never give up on his Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Leona (Saunders) Thacker; children, Margie (Steve) Payne, Debbie Thacker, Carol (Jeff) Arsenault, Saunie Smith and George “Rusty” Thacker, II; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of good friends. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 8th at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Eskenazi Health for Midtown Community Mental Health Center, or to a favorite charity in his name.
