Elliott B. Davis Sr.

Elliott Bural Davis Sr. was born on May 27, 1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Harry and Elsimena Davis, who preceded him death and later his brother, Leonard H. Davis. Elliott graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1941 and was elected class president. He briefly attended college.

Elliott served in the US Navy as well as the Navy reserves for several years. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

Elliott had a tenacious work ethic, as he began his career at GenCorp and Western Electric.

From a prior marriage he fathered two sons, Wayne Davis and Gregory Davis. Elliott and Grace Davis were married in 1964. From this union, three children were born: Jacqueline “Jackie”, Elliott

“Dee” and Anthony “Tony”.

Elliott attended St. John A.M.E Church and was a devoted member of Light of The World Christian Church. He was a musician and loved to play the saxophone. Elliott had the opportunity to play with several musicians such as West Montgomery and Cy Young.

He had a profound interest in space exploration. Elliott had several hobbies; however, he was an avid model airplane enthusiast and actually constructed a functional model airplane.

Elliott loved his family and friends and spent a lot of quality time with them. He traveled with family every year to Marco Island, Florida.

Elliott loved the Lord and loved to have a good time dancing. He was quite the comedian, (so he thought), often laughing at his own jokes. A funny quote Elliott often said was “E.B.D has done it again”, referring to himself.

Elliott Bural Davis, Sr. is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Grace Loretta Davis and his five children: Wayne Davis (Marketa), Jacqueline “Jackie” Eileen Davis-McDonald (Robert), Elliott “Dee” Bural Davis Jr (Jannise), Anthony “Tony” Davis and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He touched many lives, and no one was a stranger.

A visitation for Elliott will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
