Ed Boyer was born on February 28, 1941 at home in Vincennes, IN to Mary Ralston Boyer and Everett Boyer. He departed this world at home, surrounded by loved ones, on April 6, 2015. Eddie's family moved from Vincennes to Birds, IL and then at age 6, to a train caboose in Decatur Twp. before moving to the Drexel Garden school district. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1959, after lettering in basketball, baseball and football for 4 years. He attended airline training school and worked for thirty years for Allegheny Airlines (Formerly Lake Central). He learned the construction trade and has been building and painting, since then. Ed was very active in high school and college officiating for basketball, football, and volleyball for many years. More recently, he has coached his great-grandsons Drake at Upward Basketball at Bethel Church. He was also a Webelos Cub Scout Leader for Drake. He is preceded in death by his parents and only brother. He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Judy Smith Boyer; his sons, Tim Allen and Trent Adam (Lisa); his great grandson and best friend, Drake Alexander; 4 granddaughters; 2 grandsons and 2 great grandsons; along with many who continue to call him Dad throughout the years. A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 3pm-until the time of service at 6pm at Lynhurst Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lynhurst Baptist Church Preschool.
