

Earl Eugene Fisher died peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 10, 2024 at the age of 101. Born Dec.18,1922 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania to Albert & Erma (Stuler) Fisher. Gene was preceded in death in 2020 by his beloved wife of 75 years, Anne Marie (Mullen) Fisher, and by his son, Thomas Fisher, of Wausau WI in 2021. Left to cherish his memory are his 3 daughters, Karyn St. Pierre (Jay) of Olney IL, Nancy Slater (George) of Noblesville IN, and Barbara Ingraham (Stephen) of Waukesha WI; a sister, Virginia Sue Schug of LaJolla CA, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a large extended Fisher Family.
Gene earned his Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington PA and a Master’s from Ohio State Univ. in Columbus OH. After serving in the Pacific on Okinawa during WWII as a US Navy officer, Gene completed a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA.
He began work in research and development with DuPont in Wilmington, DE, then moved after 10 years at DuPont to the AE Staley Mfg. Co. in Decatur IL. Gene ended his career in Chicago as a Sr. VP in charge of Research and Quality Control for the William Wrigley Jr. Co. Following retirement in 1987, he and Anne Marie spent many happy years in Ocean City, MD and Sarasota, FL, traveling the US in their RV to visit children and grandchildren. They made Carmel, IN their home in 2012 and Gene became an active member of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. He especially enjoyed the Sunday service there on his 100th birthday, December 18, 2022, accompanied by many members of his extended family. Gene was loved and admired by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
