May 28, 1959 – March 10, 2020
DeWayne was born May 28, 1959 to George T and Dorothy A (Carlson) Chernovsky in Great Falls Montana. Wayne grew up and spent most of his young life on Air Force bases. He spent several years at Chinook Air Force Base in Rantoul Illinois where most of his treasured childhood memories came from. He loved the friends and experiences he had in those years.
As a young teen the family moved to Indianapolis Indiana where DeWayne attended Decatur Central High School. He was a punter for the Decatur High School Football team. After graduation Wayne attended Purdue University for 1 year and had a tryout as a punter for the team.
He graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute with degrees in small engine, diesel and gas engine mechanics. He spent his entire life continually using those skills. Buying, working on then selling vehicles, tractors, mowers, anything with an engine. As well as always being the guy working on everyone's vehicle! His knowledge of engines and motors will be greatly missed.
DeWayne had an amazing talent in punting football. He played for the Indianapolis Bears and the Pony Express minor league football teams from 1980 through 1986. He received letters for walk on tryouts from the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. Due to an automobile accident he was unable to attend those tryouts and ended his punting career.
He owned/operated his own semi truck for 3 years driving cross-country and then worked 16 years for NW Transport trucking. He joined a family business in Real Estate in 1999 and enjoyed marketing, buying, repairing and selling property.
DeWayne is preceded in death by his brother Douglas Chernovsky. He is survived by his parents George and Dorothy Chernovsky, Son Zach (Amy) Chernovsky, Daughter Alayssa (Clayton) Cordell, Daughter Whitney (Ryan) Zahn, Grandchildren, Grant, Ava, Fiona, Everett, Declan, Abigail, Calvin, former wife Tamie Todd, significant partner Dawn Hernly, his sister Denise Chernovsky, nephew Nathan Benson.
He loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, go to auctions and was the most passionate GREEN BAY PACKER fan.
Wayne will be greatly missed and forever loved by all his family and friends.
If you knew Wayne you knew of his Wayne-isms! After he received his last rights, he peacefully whispered "No More Worries"... let's keep that one going
