Obituary of Dawn Marie Jung
Dawn Marie Jung (nee Gall) of Sandusky, Ohio died Saturday, November 9th surrounded by family after a brief illness Dawn married Corky Jung in 1973 after meeting at Bowling Green State University. They began their life together in Indianapolis where she worked as a teacher. After a brief stop in Pittsburgh, they moved to Hong Kong in 1979 when Corky's work offered them a transfer. Two years turned into twenty-four and Hong Kong became a beloved adopted hometown for Dawn; it was where she raised her 3 children (Courtney, Jordan and Haley), where she started her jewelry business and also where she made lifelong friends. She truly loved exploring Hong Kong and shopping for treasures there. In 2003 they moved back to her home state of Ohio. Dawn was very artistic and creative; she started painting while living in Hong Kong and it was a hobby she continued through the rest of her life. Her jewelry designing was also an important part of her life. She also loved her games of chance; she bet on the Triple Crown series each year, had many memorable trips to Las Vegas with her mother Elizabeth and local casinos with cousins Judy and Lois, loved her scratch offs and also enjoyed playing the lottery. She loved to host guests and entertain and also looked forward every year to baking Christmas cookies as a way of honoring her mother. She was a natural storyteller and never turned down an opportunity to have fun. Dawn is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Corky Jung, her children Courtney Jung (Andrew Orton) of Alexandria, Virginia, Jordan Jung of Sandusky, Ohio and Haley Jung (John Monteleone) of Lorain, Ohio, and grandchildren Dominic and Eliot Orton. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth "Ashie" Gall and John "Babs" Gall whom she dearly missed A funeral service for Dawn will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
