David Carlton Edwards

David Carlton Edwards, the 2nd of five (5) children of Beverly Jones Edwards and Charles L. Edwards, Sr. was born June 15, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He professed a belief in Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at 14 years old at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev E.T. Johnson. His fraternal grandmother, the late Ms. Corrine Burris Williams was a charter member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. David received his primary education in the Indianapolis Public Schools System at School 85, and School 57. David was a cub scout and Boy Scout and as a child was an avid Little League baseball player. David graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1975. His first job was at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. David had many jobs and retired from RedBall Moving Company after 25 years. David loved watching all sports especially Nascar races, the Pacers, The Indianapolis Colts football. David loved collecting die cast automobiles and trucks. David’s dear oldest brother Chuck (Charles Jr) taught him how to play chess, so he enjoyed playing chess. David absolutely loved watching the soap opera, The Young and the Restless (Victor Newman and Nikki) every day since the 1970’s. David’s favorite actress was Jamie Lee Curtis and his favorite tv shows was the “A Team”, Mister Ed, and Greenacres. David, favorite foods were barbeque, Dairy Queen, and Mr. Dan’s chilidogs. David’s favorite music group was the Gap Band. David loved to read the newspaper and engage with family and friends. His neighbors described him a gentle giant who has kind to them and especially his Mom. He was preceded in death by his father Charles L. Edwards Sr., and fraternal grandmother, Ms. Corrine Burris Williams. David leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Beverly, Brothers Charles (Tina) and Brian; Sisters Kimberly (Clyde) and Pamela; nephew Lawren Henry; Niece Christian Edwards, Uncle; Ronald Cartwright Sr.; cousins Geri, Charles (Bubby)Craig, Jill Amis, and Ronald Cartwright Jr. and host of other Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; and love of his life of over 48 years Theresa M. Engle and extended family, Marlene Angela, Joseph Withers, and grandkids; Michael, Bryce, Demond, (2) Gregory’s, Diamond, Heavenly. Humbly Submitted…………. The Family Service for Mr. David Carlton Edwards will be held, 12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation held from 10:00 am until time of service held at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery, 2702 Kessler Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.
