Dan Michael Walker, age 72, passed away from pancreatic cancer on November 11th, 2024 at the Franciscan Hospice House. He leaves behind his beloved dog Bubby, brother Larry (Linda) Walker, nieces Sonda (Jeff) Sorg and Dana (Joe) Willing, nephew Joseph Meyer, a sister (deceased) Lynn (Joe) Meyer and nine great-nieces and nephews. Dan was the son of the late J. Alfred (Al) and Margie Walker.
Dan loved dogs and had several over the years; Mick, Buddy, Squirt, Curley, and Bubby.
Upon Dan's graduation from Ball State University, he was accepted to law school at Michigan State University. In the 11th hour, he decided he wanted to travel the United States by car, which he was able to get to 48 states. Upon completing his trips, he landed a job with the Marion County court system where he served over 30 years. Upon his retirement he worked for Nutro Dog Food and Earthborn Dog Food companies, showing his continued love for dogs.
Dan was a big baseball fan, especially liking New York Yankees. His favorite player of all time was Mickey Mantle. He was able to attend several All-Star games and often got pregame field passes.
Dan always had a very unique sense of humor. It was always hard to tell if he was serious or his dry humor.
Special thank you to the Franciscan Hospice House and the excellent care provided for Dan in his 10-week stay fighting the pain of pancreatic cancer.
Dan will be remembered as an honest man who lived his life to the end.
In Lieu of flowers, Dan would like contributions made to the Indianapolis Animal Care Services or Indianapolis Humane Society.
