Clara Ann (Brown) Gootee, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 1 2022 in Greenfield, IN. Clara was born on August 4, 1933 in Indianapolis to her parents, Norman W. and Evelyn (Wilcoxen) Brown. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High and married her soul mate, Bernard G. Gootee "Nardy". They were happily married for 52 years until he passed away in 2001. Clara resided in Irvington and retired from Naval Avionics.
Clara was a true matriarch; her family was her priority, and she spent most of her time in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed exchanging memories and attending gatherings with her Amore Club Sisters. Clara had quite the green thumb, and loved to nurture her beautiful flowers and plants with her four-legged companion, Sadie, by her side.
Clara is survived by her children, Becky (Larry) Bocock, Gregory Gootee, Bethann (Kim) Brand and Jerry Gootee; 10 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild; and sibling, Norman (Dawn) Brown. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard G. Gootee; son, Jeffrey Gootee; parents, Norman W. and Evelyn Brown; and sister, Patricia Rayman.
A visitation for Clara will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM.
Clara will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
