Christopher Adam DeLong

Christopher DeLong, 48, Indianapolis passed away May 15, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, Carmel, Indiana due to complications of liver disease. Chris was a good person with the best heart ever who loved his family and friends dearly. Relationships were extremely important to him. He was a loyal friend and respected loyalty in others. He loved talking to people on the phone and it helped him as much as it helped them. He was a great encourager to anyone having a bad day, pointing out to them all the amazing things they had done in their own lives and the impact they had had on his life. And he knew exactly the words to use to make someone feel special. Chris had the utmost respect for our veterans and did everything he could to honor those who served or had served in the military. One of his hopes was that one day he would volunteer at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis to be able to talk to and support those veterans who suffer with PTSD. Chris was preceded in death by his Grandma's, Virginia (Beall) DeLong and Jimmy (Cantwell) Conner; Grandpa, Rex Conner; Sons (his two dogs he loved as sons), Cassius and Buddy. Survivors include his Mom, Teresa Conner (Ken) Atkinson; Dad, Richard DeLong; Sister, Mandy Atkinson; Uncle, Brian (Connie) Conner; Cousins, Melissa Conner (Shawn) Lahmeyer and Brad Conner. There will be no formal services but a celebration of life for family and friends may be held at a later date in Indiana. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Veterans Foundation, https://nvf.org/veterans-donations/ which supports The Lifeline for Vets. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital Carmel for the care given to Chris.
