

Cheryl Denise Kistler passed away On May 3, 2024, after bravely battling a long illness. Cheryl was born March 3, 1960, in Beech Grove, to Damon and Neva Jean Dittemore. Cheryl graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 1978. She retired in 2010 after working for Marion County in several capacities with The Sheriff’s Office, Building Authority and Superior Courts.
Cheryl had a zest for living. Her laugh was contagious. She enjoyed being around friends and family, vacationing in Florida every year and the many dogs and cats she had over the years. Her hobbies included painting, knitting, sewing and making jewelry. She accomplished one of her dreams in 2016 when she became a published author.
Cheryl will be missed by her husband of 30 years, Jan Kistler, her son, Gregory Burks (Alyse), daughter Kristen Nunez (Enrique), 7 grandchildren, sisters Debra Brizendine (Bill Woollen), Tamara Mackenzie (Mark) and Georgia Davis-Fulmer (Fred), as well as sister-in-law Connie Dittemore and several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Damon R Jr and Randy Dittemore.
A Celebration of Life for Cheryl will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Cheryl requested memorial contributions be sent to Far Fetched Dog Rescue. Donations can be made at: farfetcheddogrescue.org
Thanks to Acsencion Pulmonary and Dr. William Byron for giving Cheryl more years than thought. The family would also like to thank Paradigm Health and Restoracy of Whitestown for the care they provided to Cheryl.
