Charlie Robinson will always be a close friend and mentor to my father for over 40 years.

Growing up, I sat in on countless early Saturday morning breakfasts at the Canary Café with Charlie and my dad listening to them talk about the practice of law and their families. My favorite Charlie stories were always about his fun adventures growing up as a young kid in Indianapolis.

Later on, I was lucky to get my start in the legal field working for Charlie at Yarling and Robinson after college. I very much appreciate the opportunity he graciously gave to me.

He was a kind, soft-spoken, and brilliant man. His calm demeanor, deep knowledge of his profession, and love for his family was truly extraordinary. 

His positive influence on all us will never fade away. We were all very lucky to have known him.

I was Charlie’s personal trainer for eight years and really enjoyed our chats while working out. He always had good advice and a great sense of humor. I will never forget all of his fishing stories and will miss him immensely.  Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to Mrs. Diane and family, on the passing of their loved one, and my friend, Mr.
Charlie.  He was my McDonald partner on Monday mornings.  I enjoyed our time together, and he will be dearly missed.  He's gone, but will not be forgotten.

I worked at Yarling, Winter, Tunnell, Robinson and Lamb in the early 1970s.  Initially, I typed and filed for Carl Winter and Don Tunnell.   One day Charlie called me to his office to say they were going to reassign me.  I would be typing and filing for him, as well as work with collection cases and visit the court houses to file documents.  I felt ill equipped for the additional tasks and teared up.  Charlie calmly assured me he thought I could handle the added tasks or we wouldn’t have been having that conversation.  He was right, and we worked well together.   In the spring of 1973, when my husband graduated from law school, I left the firm, and we moved to a rural county.  I was hubby’s first secretary, using skills and knowledge that the generous folks at YWTR&L had taught me.  Years later when I became an employer, I never forgot Charlie’s ‘you can do this’ kind manner.

A true gentlemen who will be deeply missed.  When he wasn't fishing (or tinkering with his vast amount of fishing tackle, rods, and reels),  Charlie established the 'gold standard' for lawyers with his morality and ethical behavior.  I will always cherish the many fond memories of fishing in Canada and his dry sense of humor.  He was "one of the good guys" and a moral compass for many younger lawyers.

Charlie Robinson was a fine attorney and someone I always considered a friend despite the fact we were adversaries in all our cases. He was the "old school" type which I tried to follow as I respected his candor and skills. He raised a fine son in Matt who followed the mold of integrity and honor. Our profession  lost a great man. I have always had great respect for Charlie even though our professional paths diverged years ago. He taught me and modeled advocacy and I continued to be an advocate, just for a different purpose. My prayers for comfort are with Diane and his family.

I am saddened to learn of Charlie's passing. I joined Yarling Tunnell Robinson & Lamb right out of law school. Charlie was my mentor for 3 years and I owe much of what I know about the practice of law from him. He was a fantastic trial lawyer and an example of what an attorney should be. He was a strong advocate but with class and civility. He was a good friend, too and I learned valuable life lessons from him. He taught me that with hard work and diligence I could accomplish anything. He also instilled in me that I may have lots of cases, but my client only has one. He also made it clear that family comes first.
