

Catherine McGhee Livers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and trailblazer, departed this life on April 2, 2025. Born on June 11, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Catherine lived a life marked by faith, wisdom, and a deep love for her family and heritage.
A lifelong learner and passionate scholar, Catherine earned her Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from Indiana University, graduating Summa Cum Laude at the age of 54—an achievement that reflected her determination and brilliance. She was the proud founder of Shahar Publishing and authored two books, Biblical History of Black Mankind and The Snatching Away, works that combined her love for scripture and her dedication to teaching truth. Catherine also taught Biblical Hebrew and Greek, enriching the spiritual lives of many with her insight and knowledge.
Catherine was a woman of beauty, grace, and profound intelligence. She had a magnetic presence and a heart that made everyone feel special. More than anything, she cherished her role as a grandmother—her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Fred Livers; her children Shereka Johnson (Aaron), Marcus Livers (Amber), and Victoria Livers; and her six grandchildren James Layne, Zion Layne, AJ Johnson, Israel Livers, Parker Titus, and Sofia Titus. She also leaves behind her siblings Philip McGhee, Betty Brown, and Juanita McGhee.
Catherine now joins her parents, Phillip and Martha Ray McGhee, and her brother Bay Ray McGhee in eternal rest.
Her legacy of love, faith, and scholarship will live on through all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Catherine will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Immediately after, a procession will lead to the burial site for a final farewell.
