Carrie was an active member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.
She volunteered at the �"Little Red Door†for 36 years and did the Blood Drive’s for St. Monica’s for over 25 years. She was a founding member of the Guardian Angels Guild @ St. Mary’s Child Care Center.
She graduated from St. Agnes High School and Holy Cross Central school of Nursing in Notre Dame, IN.
She worked at VA hospital, and retired from Methodist Hospital (Radiation and Oncology dept.). She was one of the first nurses to work on the oncology-research unit at Methodist Hospital.
She enjoyed sports and was an avid Colt’s and Notre Dame fan. Carrie also loved to travel and took many trips with her husband David, Jr.
She became a published author in 2003. Her first book was â€?"All Grown Up and Dressed in Whiteâ€.
She will be truly missed but never forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years; David Jr; One son, David III, six sisters, Sr. Demetria Smith, Bernie Easton, Doris Peck, Nellie Simpson (Addison), Rosetta Graham and Archie Mae Greene. Two brothers, Joseph L. Smith and Bro. Roy Smith, CSC., and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to the Archie & Bettie Smith Scholarship Fund, 3834 N. Campbell Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46226. Arrangements are being handled by Crown Hill Funeral Home.
