My wife and I only knew Carl for a very short time moving in across the street in o8. It was a honor to meet him. He always had kind words, curious smile and the hospitality of a gentleman. We miss him very much and wish the best for the family.

    Many years have passed since the days 
at IPS School 59.  Many great memories from then and you and your dad were a great part of making those times so special. He really made school fun with his humor and warmth for his students.  I ran in to him at a garden club sale and he remembered me and many of the classmates. It was delightful renewing those memories and sharing laughs with him. I am very sorry for your loss and hope that the memories you have can bring you some comfort.

Carl was a great help to me as a beginning teacher in IPS. A better consultant could not be found. We became good friends through the years and I always enjoyed his company and his jokes. I regret missing his services due to being out of town. Cheryl-your dad was a wonderful man and is in a better place now.

Mr. Roberts will always hold a special place in my heart. He made Social Studies enjoyable. Merle Sidener was lucky to have him as a teacher and coach.

Carl was a great man A quote from him -"all sunshine makes a desert"

Carl and Rosie were the best neighbor and friends anyone could ask for.I will always treasure our Christmas card exchange.We used the same card every year only with a different message.A tradition I really missed.

Mr. Roberts is remembered warmly by those he influenced while he was at Indianapolis Public Schools.

Mr. Roberts, who I first remember as coach at Manual Jr. Hi. in the '50's, graduated from Washington High in 1943 where he had played basketball.  He joined the Army Air Corps in October. Sgt. Roberts survived 24 bombing mission over Germany but once he was shot down on Dec. 8, 1944.  While working back to France, he was handed a rifle by the infantry and became part of our defense during the Battle of the Bulge.  On Jan. 23, 1945 his plane crashed during take-off from Kimbolton, England.  Six of the nine man crew was killed.  He thought the co-pilot friend of his was one that was killed until he saw him at a 2002 reunion in Texas.  Mr. Roberts' daughter, Cheryl, was my kindergarten girlfriend in 1952.

Hi Shannon and family,  I am so sorry about the loss of your Grandfather. I will never forget his beautiful Day Lillies. And I remember how much he loved your Grandmother. You will be in my heart and in my prayers. I am in Florida for a month. So sorry I will not be there for all of you. Love and Prayers, Kay Little Denning

My deepest sympathy for your loss. I have very fond memories of Carl (and Rosie too!). We lived right behind them growing up. Good times and a lot of broken windows (from hitting our baseballs too far over the fence!).

Mr. Roberts, one of my favorite teacher and coach of all time. I still cherish the memories of his history classes and being coached basketball and softball on his teams at P.S. 35.

During his history classes I enjoyed his telling of his exploits in W.W. 2.

I offer my condolences to his family, they have lost a great man.
