Lou, as she preferred to be called was born in Indianapolis to Curtis and Mary Baker. She attended Washington High School and graduated from Northwest High School in its first year of existence.
Following high school, Brenda worked for several Indianapolis Corporations in various accounting functions. She met and married her partner of 47 years, Ralph M. Frey and together they followed Mike's career with the Kimberly Clark Corporation which took them to Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, Neenah Wisconsin, Chicago (2 assignments) and Cleveland. Upon retirement the couple returned to their Indiana roots. Lou took great pleasure in picking out their house in 9 different locations and designing them to her liking.
Lou enjoyed working in her yard and was devoted to the wildlife that live in her backyard. She also rescued cats in every location and her love for animals of all kinds was special. During her younger years she was an avid tennis player.
Lou is survived by her husband Mike, one daughter Christina Nelson, three grandchildren Caden (18), Celsey (15) and Cameron (13) of Mabel, Minnesota, a brother Dennis of Winterhaven, Florida, sister-in-law Kay Carmichael and brother-in-law Dennis Carmichael of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Steve Baker, a sister Barbara Hatfield. There will be a one hour visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery in the Gothic Chapel, followed by services at 12pm. Light refreshments will be served after service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Johnson County Humane Society.
