Bill Warrick passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26th at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis after a long fight with lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his sister, Anne Warrick Chegar (Dick Chegar) and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Camilla Harris Warrick, and his parents.
Bill was born in New York City, where his father, Dr. Francis Bewley Warrick, served as a physician and Naval Officer, and his mother, Elizabeth Reller Warrick, an actress. The family soon moved to Richmond, Indiana, Bill’s mother’s hometown, where Dr. Warrick practiced internal medicine.
Bill graduated from Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1964. He attended both Earlham College and the University of Oregon.
Woodworking was an early passion that Bill pursued through a variety of opportunities in the West and later in Indianapolis, where he became a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He meticulously planned every project with a look, finish and fit that were always perfect. His clients deeply appreciated his workmanship and craft, as well as his integrity.
Bill met his wife Joan, an English Teacher at North Central High School, in 1985, and their romance developed into a beautiful, loving marriage of 37 years. They lived a wonderful life in two treasured homes: a Washington Boulevard home and a lovely country farmhouse on 35 acres in Owen County. Bill cared for the landscape and farmhouse with great attention to detail. When they hosted Thanksgiving for their large
extended family, it was always praised as “The Best Thanksgiving Ever!”
As family, friends, and clients mourn his passing, they will remember Bill’s kindness, loyalty, and gentle humor.
A Calling will be held at Leppert Mortuary on 86th Street on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM.
