82, of Indianapolis. Departed this life Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was born July 22, 1928 in Jefferson City, MO to James and Amey (Lowe) Hughes. Austin served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He worked at the Kokomo Chrysler Transmission Plant for 27 years, retiring in 1995. Following retirement, he worked at Nora Laundry with his wife Jerri. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the United Auto Workers. He will be remembered as a calm, quite, kind and generous man to all who knew him. Austin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Geraldine G. “Jerri” (Duvall) Hughes and his brothers and sisters, Murphy, Marshall, Murley, Marvin, Bell and Mandy. He is survived by his loving children, Carol S. Shearin and Michael A. Hughes; granddaughter, Jennifer D. Shearin and great-granddaughter, Chloe R. Hoskins and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Monday, February 7th in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 8th in the mortuary.
